Cormac F. Coyle, MD
Dr. Coyle has served as a practicing Physician and as both Medical Director and Business Director of Emerald Physicians since its inception. Originally from Ireland, Dr. Coyle graduated from the University of Galway Medical School and completed his medical training in Ireland and England, including working as a Hospitalist. When he came to the United States, he completed residency at Boston City Hospital. Dr. Coyle founded Emerald Physicians in 1997, beginning with a small office on Cedar Street in Hyannis. Today, the practice has nine offices located across Cape Cod and a highly skilled staff of over 150 employees.
Dr. Coyle’s philosophy that all patients deserve access to quality medical care has earned him the respect of his colleagues, staff, and 38,000 patients in our community.
Jorge Alfonso, MD
Dr. Alfonso attended New York Medical School and Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed his residency at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, CT. He was in private practice in Fort Pierce, FL, for several years before moving to Cape Cod in 2005. Prior to practicing medicine at Emerald Physicians, Dr. Alfonso was a Hospitalist at Cape Cod Hospital.

Daniel Arnold, MD
Dr. Arnold is a graduate of Providence College and the Tulane University School of Medicine, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed residency training at Boston Medical Center in 2008, and served as Chief Medical Resident from 2008-2009. Prior to joining Emerald Physicians, Dr. Arnold was a Hospitalist at Cape Cod Hospital. His medical interests include inpatient medicine, critical care medicine, care of chronic complex medical problems, and palliative care. Dr. Arnold and his wife Carly have five young children and enjoy exploring the Cape.
Dr. Arnold sees patients at our 349 Rte 28 office in West Yarmouth. Additionally, he sees patients one day a week at our Brewster office located at 125 Underpass Road.
Paul Bizinkauskas, MS, MD
Dr. Bizinkauskas grew up in the South Shore area of Massachusetts. He attended the University of Massachusetts Boston where he earned his MS in biotechnology and biomedical sciences in 1986. He later attended Boston University School of Medicine where he received the Dr. Henry J. Bakst Award in community medicine. He subsequently completed his internship and residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Dr. Bizinkauskas also worked in basic science research at Mass General Hospital and at the USDA Human Nutrition Center in Boston. He is board-certified and subsequently re-certified. After completing his training, he began practicing on Cape Cod in 1996.

Miriam Cerutti, DO
Dr. Cerutti graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY with a degree in Biology in 1999. She attended medical school at the University of New England, and completed her internship and residency at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY, where she was also Chief Resident. Dr. Cerutti relocated to Cape Cod in 2009 and was formerly a Hospitalist at Cape Cod Hospital prior to joining Emerald Physicians. Her medical interests include general internal medicine as well as cardiac risk reduction, management of hypertension, cholesterol and other lipid management, diabetes care, complex medical care, and young patient physicals. When not practicing medicine, she enjoys traveling and taking advantage of Cape Cod’s natural beauty for kayaking, photography, and bird watching.

Peter Crosson, MD
Dr. Crosson attended New York University. He completed his residency at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He worked for a year as a staff physician at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center prior to moving back east in 2003. Dr. Crosson is certified in bone densitometry by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. His special interests include rheumatology and sports medicine, cortisone injections for bursitis and arthritis, osteoporosis, and diabetes management.

Anna Hallemeier, MD
Dr. Hallemeier graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Anthropology in 1996. She attended medical school at Yale School of Medicine, in New Haven, CT, and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Prior to joining Emerald Physicians, she has been practicing primary care on Cape Cod since 2007. Her medical interests include young adult medicine, nutrition and lifestyle management, chronic disease management, and the intersection of the global environment with individual health. Outside of medicine, Dr. Hallemeier enjoys yoga, hiking, travel, and caring for her children.

Diane Hesselbrock, MD, Neurologist
Dr. Hesselbrock attended medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed her neurology residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she completed a clinical neurophysiology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University. Fellowship training included performing and interpreting EMG studies, interpreting EEG studies with additional training in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases and epilepsy.
Dr. Hesselbrock is a general neurologist with particular interest in neuromuscular diseases, movement disorders, and epilepsy. Dr. Hesselbrock’s practice focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with neurological diseases and is proactive with patients and their families to reach their goals. She will work closely with patients’ primary care physicians to monitor and treat progression of adult neurological disorders including but not limited to: Stroke, Polyneuropathy and all neuromuscular disorders, Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, headaches and Multiple Sclerosis.

Ruth Holland, MD
Dr. Holland attended medical school and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After training, she joined a private group practice affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania and then went on to open her own solo practice in Chester County, PA. Her practice encompassed adult general medicine, ages 16 and up, with an emphasis on chronic care management, women’s health, and hospital medicine. She also cared for patients in three nursing homes and a long-term acute care facility. While in Chester County she was involved in a variety of health care reform issues working to improve the County and State healthcare system and to advance healthcare excellence at all levels. Dr. Holland was very active in the Pennsylvania Medical Society, served on the Executive committee of Chester County Hospital and was President of the Chester County Medical Society for the past two years before coming to the Cape.
She is board-certified and re-certified in Internal Medicine. Her professional philosophy is to treat patients as she would wish to be treated and to assist them to the best of her abilities in navigating a complex healthcare system. Some of her other interests include family, music, horse-back riding, and environmental stewardship and conservation.

Sean Horrigan, DO, Neurologist
Dr. Horrigan attended medical school at the University of New England and completed his neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He then completed his neurophysiology fellowship at Brown University-

Mike Markowski, DO, Neurologist
Dr. Markowski completed his neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. He completed an Electromyography (EMG) fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. In addition to providing general neurology services, Dr. Markowski conducts Electromyography (EMG) testing, a study to diagnose nerve and muscle disorders.
Dr. Markowski is a general neurologist with a particular interest in peripheral nerve and muscle (neuromuscular) diseases, stroke / cerebrovascular disease and epilepsy. Dr. Markowski’s practice focuses on improving the quality of life for patients with neurological diseases and is proactive with patients and their families to reach their goals. He will work closely with patients’ primary care physician to monitor and treat progression of adult neurological disorders including but not limited to: Stroke, all neuromuscular disorders including Polyneuropathy, Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, headaches and Multiple Sclerosis.
Given his additional interest in Stroke and cerebrovascular disease, Dr. Markowski has also served as the Stroke Director for Cape Cod Hospital. Since 2011, he has served as a local Delegate to the Massachusetts Medical Society. In 2012, he was elected the Vice Chair of the General Neurology Section to the Academy of Neurology, an organization of over 25,000 neurologists and neuroscientists. In his role as Vice Chair, Dr. Markowski will work closely with the Academy and be on the forefront of developments in health care policy. His philosophy is that physicians must also be advocates, both for their colleagues and more importantly their patients.

Mahmood Rana, MD
Dr. Mahmood Rana is a board certified physician who received his medical training at Tufts University, the University of Vermont and Texas A&M University Health Science Center. During his medical training he held a position at President House Staff Association TAMUHSC and was a member of P&T Committee and other administrative bodies. Dr. Rana received a Top American Family Physician Award in 2007 and 2008.
He is inspired by his ability to slow or prevent the manifestation of disease and believes that a holistic philosophy is essential for building strong relationships with patients. Dr. Rana enjoys working in a supportive and caring environment among colleagues who are passionate about their profession and assist one another when necessary. His experiences around the world have taught him the value of hard work, the importance of patience and dedication, and the power of humility and compassion when interacting with patients and their families.

Matthew Rittel, MD
Dr. Rittel attended Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his internship and residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr Rittel is interested in all aspects of internal medicine, but puts strong emphasis on disease prevention in the care of his patients. Healthy lifestyle and diet changes are always used first whenever possible to obtain treatment goals. He enjoys the continuity of care among his patients on the Cape and sees adult patients of all ages and backgrounds. When he is not practicing medicine, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and kids on the local beaches, relaxing and having fun.

Kumara Sidhartha, MD
Dr. Sidhartha grew up in South India. He attended Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College in Salem, India before coming to the United States in 1998. Dr.Sidhartha completed his Internship and Medical Residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, New York, affiliated with Cornell University before moving to Cape Cod in 2002. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2003.
His pursuit to find the least harmful and yet most beneficial treatments for challenging conditions like Cancer and Autoimmune diseases led him to study European Biological Medicine (Diploma offered by Paracelcus Klinik, Switzerland) in 2007-2008. Dr.Sidhartha is certified in plant-based nutrition through eCornell – Cornell’s online university. He is currently studying Master of Public Health in Nutrition (MPHN), online, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His primary focus in clinical practice is Preventive Medicine using evidence-based nutritional management. Dr. Sidhartha shares his knowledge and experience in nutritional treatments through public presentations in the Cape and Boston area. He enjoys reading, biking, and art.

Ann Skopek, MD
Dr. Skopek has been practicing medicine since 1978. Until recently, she operated as an internist at her own practice. She has practiced in Orange, CT and with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, CT. In past employment, Dr. Skopek was a Medical Director at Yale New Haven Hospital Medical Services Organization. She has served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. Outside of the office she enjoys gardening, volunteering as a field guide at the CC Museum of Natural History, and spending time with her family. As a military mom, Dr. Skopek is also active in a nonprofit organization called Operation Adopt a Soldier in order to help care for and support soldiers and their families.

Eric Weber, MD
Dr. Weber attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his internship and residency at Temple University Hospital. He is currently Medical Director of Broad Reach Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility, Medical Director of the Victorian Assisted Living Facility and Medical Director of Broad Reach Hospice. His interests include Adult Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Preventative Medicine.

Lisa Weinstein-Moreno, MD
Dr. Moreno grew up in New York City. She attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed her Internship and Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania as well. Dr. Moreno was in Private Practice in Hallandale, FL and Warren, MI for 8 years prior to moving to the Cape in 2004. She worked as a Hospitalist at Cape Cod Hospital for 4 years prior to joining Emerald Physicians. Dr. Moreno is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.

Jennifer August, PA-C
Jennifer August is board-certified Physician Assistant who has practiced on Cape Cod for the past 13 years. She received her BS in Medical Biology and her Masters of Science in Physician Assistance Studies from the University of New England. After graduation, Jennifer worked at the Duffy Health Center where she provided primary care services. She also created policies regarding standards of care for diabetes management, was the team leader/provider champion for the Diabetes Health Disparities Collaborative and was the liaison between the Duffy Health Center and Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers.
Most recently, Jennifer has been working in Endocrinology with a primary focus on diabetes management/care. She was recently recognized by the NCQA Diabetes Recognition Program for providing the highest level of diabetes care.
Outside of medicine she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, skiing, biking, and camping.

Marie Hartley, PA-C
Marie Hartley attended the Physician Assistant Program at Stony Brook University on Long Island, NY, where she graduated cum laude. She completed her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. Since 2001, she has worked in Internal Medicine on Cape Cod joining Emerald Physicians in August, 2010. Marie’s interests include disease prevention, orthopedics, women’s health and helping her patients find alternatives to pharmacological treatments. When she is not practicing medicine, Marie enjoys singing, bicycling and spending time with her family.

Andrea Lyonnais, PA-C
Andrea received her bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She attended the Physician Assistant program at Northeastern University in Boston where she received her master’s degree in health sciences and physician assistant studies. Following graduation from Northeastern she moved to Bakersfield, California where she worked in family medicine at a community health center.
Andrea was a member of the National Health Service Corps, working in an underserved medical community during her 4 years in Bakersfield. In October 2007 she and her husband moved back to the east coast and in December she started working at Emerald Physicians. Andrea is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Massachusetts Association of Physician Assistants. Andrea believes that eating a variety of healthy foods and staying active both physically and mentally are essential components for a happy and healthy life.

Elizabeth Dunton, NP
Elizabeth is a graduate from Boston College with a baccalaureate degree and Master of Science in Nursing. She is a member of both the Sigma Theta Tau (International Honor Society of Nursing) and the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). She is also the Practice Administrator of Emerald Physicians. Elizabeth’s special interests include gynecology and fertility counseling.

Sue Harrington, DNP, APRN-BC
Sue graduated from Simmons College with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and a Master of Science degree in Nursing. She graduated Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She has been an adjunct instructor and student preceptor at Simmons Graduate School for Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (International Honor Society of Nursing) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (ANCC). She is the Practice Clinical Manager of Emerald Physicians. With 7 years experience as a nurse practitioner in gynecology, Sue has special interest in diabetes, COPD/Asthma and gynecology.

Debbie Landry, NP
Debbie is a family Nurse Practitioner and a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana where she received a Masters of Science degree. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked locally as a registered nurse with experience in acute and critical care. Debbie is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. Her special interests include health promotion and prevention, and she also conducts Home Visits to homebound patients. Debbie believes that a healthy lifestyle includes a nutritious diet and exercise in conjunction with emotional and spiritual balance.

Heather Malcomson, NP
Heather graduated magna cum laude from Simmons College with a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a masters degree in nursing, as well as magna cum laude from Montana State University-Bozeman with a baccalaureate degree in community health. She received the Clinical Excellence Award in May 2006 from Simmons College. Heather is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau and Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. Her special interests include nutrition, smoking cessation, gynecology, and exploring non-pharmacological approaches to prevention and disease management.

Barbara Robinson, NP
Barbara is an Adult Nurse Practitioner, who received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 2004. She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Barbara has over 20 years of critical care nursing experience. Her interests include health promotion and alternative approaches to prevent and assist with disease management.

Beth McGarry Sheehan, MSN, FNP-BC
Beth graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Masters in Science in Nursing in 1995. She is a member of the nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau and the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Beth graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1989 with a BA in Anthropology, with a strong interest in Medical Anthropology. Beth has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in conventional and holistic settings since 1995.
An ongoing student of Energetic Healing modalities, Beth studied Homeopathy for six years and is an experienced practitioner of Homeopathy. She also has keen interests in Physical/Structural Modalities and Kundalini Yoga.
